Sandia Peak holding Labor Day chairlift sale

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Sandia Peak Ski Area is letting New Mexicans take home a piece of ski history this Labor Day weekend. Dubbed “The First Chairlift in New Mexico,” Sandia Peak’s “chair one” has carried generations of New Mexico skiers up the mountain, and officials say each seat holds a piece of history.

Sandia Peak officials say starting next Saturday, they will begin selling off the original 1962 chairs from the lift, saying the seats make a great patio swing, garden bench, or piece of historic art. From 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., the public can purchase the chairs at the Sandia Peak Ski Area, which range in price from $500 to $750.
