ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Some Atlanta city councilmembers and advocates are calling to begin planning the removal of inmates under the custody of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office from the Atlanta Detention Center.
“What we’re asking is the city to make good on its promise not to be in the jailing business,” said Michael Collins, a member of the Community Over Cages coalition that works to reduce jail population and deaths.
