NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — North Tonawanda Police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating four recent cases of check fraud in the city after victims reported having checks they mailed for payment cashed for different amounts by unknown individuals.
2 On Your Side spoke with one victim who reported mailing a $35 check to pay his National Fuel bill, only to find out that the payment never made it.
Instead, his check had been “washed” and cashed for $2,100 by someone else…
