PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An armed man who barricaded himself inside a home surrendered without incident Saturday.

Responding to reports of a domestic assault involving a weapon Saturday around 10 a.m., Kent County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies from multiple divisions including patrol, tactical, negotiators, investigators, K9 and drone operators spent several hours trying to deescalate and resolve the satiation safely after he barricaded himself inside, KCSO deputies said.
The initial victim had been able to safely exit the residence before deputies arrived and nearby residents were ordered to shelter-in-place during the incident.
Around 6 p.m. and after “more hours of direct communication with the KCSO negotiation team,” the 43-year-old man surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody…
