An unleashed dog on the beach in North Florida killed 23 turtle hatchlings on August 21. The tiny bodies were discovered during a beach nest survey performed by the non profit group Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol. The organization works to protect the five species of endangered sea turtles found in Florida waters.
Twenty-three sea turtle hatchlings … found dead near Second Street in Atlantic Beach likely were killed by an unleashed dog as the hatchlings emerged from their nest.
