Palmetto Electric’s Operation Round Up program recently presented several local nonprofits with grants totaling $60,000.
Thanks to the generosity of its members, Palmetto Electric Cooperative continues to do more than just supply reliable power to homes and businesses – it’s providing support to those who need it most in southern Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper counties.
Through the Operation Round Up program, Palmetto Electric’s members voluntarily round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month. These funds are then administered by the Palmetto Electric Trust to assist community organizations and individuals in need throughout the co-op’s service area. In July, Palmetto Electric awarded $60,000 in Operation Round Up grants to the following local nonprofits.
- Helping Hand Center, Inc.: $10,000
- Family Promise of Beaufort County: $5,000
- Friends of Caroline Hospice: $7,500
- Mirasol Health: $7,500
- Programs for Exceptional People: $10,000
- Sandalwood Community Food Pantry: $10,000
- Second Helpings: $10,000
“The kindness and generosity of our members are what make these donations possible,” said Tray Hunter, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations. “Their willingness to round up their bill each month proves that even the smallest gifts can make a tremendous difference in the lives of others.”…
