100-year-old Albuquerque man throws first pitch at Isotopes game

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Sunday, Ted Rush, who celebrated his 100th birthday, threw out the first pitch at the Isotopes game. Rush was born in Chicago during the Great Depression in 1925 and joined the Marine Corps in 1943. He served during the Invasion of Okinawa during World War II.

After his service, he studied music at Roosevelt and Northwestern University before he and his wife accepted jobs as music teachers in Albuquerque in 1951.

Last year, KRQE News 13 spoke with Rush on his 99th birthday, and he admits he wasn’t very familiar with the Duke City then.

Rush said the secret to a long, happy life is to keep your body and mind moving…
