Birmingham gas prices drop as national average rises

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Average gasoline prices in Birmingham have decreased by 4.0 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $2.69 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 550 stations in the area. This marks a 9.8-cent drop from a month ago and a 26.0-cent decrease compared to the same time last year.

GasBuddy price reports indicate that the cheapest station in Birmingham was priced at $2.48 per gallon yesterday, while the most expensive reached $3.58 per gallon, a difference of $1.10 per gallon. Across Alabama, the lowest price recorded yesterday was $2.43 per gallon, with the highest at $3.69 per gallon, a $1.26 per gallon difference.

In contrast, the national average price of gasoline has risen by 3.4 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $3.12 per gallon. Despite this increase, the national average is still 2.1 cents lower than a month ago and 18.3 cents lower than a year ago, based on GasBuddy data compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports from more than 150,000 gas stations nationwide…
