Petition for clemency: 2.7 million urge leniency for undocumented trucker in deadly crash

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Over 2.5 million people have signed a petition asking Florida officials to show leniency to the undocumented migrant truck driver accused of causing a crash that killed three people in Fort Pierce.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Harjinder Singh, 28, was operating a 2024 International semi-tractor-trailer near mile marker 171 when he attempted an illegal U-turn in an “official use only” area. His trailer crossed all northbound lanes of traffic, directly into the path of a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The van became wedged under the trailer, killing all three occupants.
