Smashed police vehicle on display at State Fair, trooper recounts the story

GEDDES, N.Y. — Monday is Law Enforcement Day at The Great New York State Fair. The day serves to reflect on the dangers that police and first responders encounter when they are serving their communities.

New York State Police have an exhibit at the fair showcasing the vehicles they use. One of those vehicles is a State Police patrol car with a smashed back end.

That vehicle was once driven by Trooper Jennifer Jiron. She was on I-81 to assist a driver in a disabled vehicle on a snowy day when a tractor-trailer lost control and jack-knifed into the back of her vehicle…
