Driver cited in head-on crash that injured Brunswick County deputy

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The driver who caused a head-on crash and injured a Brunswick County deputy has been cited, according to a citation report.

The report states that the driver was cited for the following charges:

  • Reckless driving- wanton disregard
  • Operation of motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive/allow motor vehicle without registration
  • Fictitious or altered certificate of title, registration card, or license plate tag
  • Expired registration card/tag
  • Drive left of center
  • Failure to wear a seat belt
  • Expired/no inspection

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP), the crash happened on Holden Beach Road near Tatum Road at around 9 a.m. on Aug. 20.

NCSHP reports that a Dodge Caravan was traveling east on N.C. 130 when the driver crossed the center line and hit an unmarked BCSO vehicle that was traveling west head-on.
