Closet Of Hope meets needs of local families

WYOMING, Mich. (ABC 4) — In Wyoming, a church-based ministry called Closet Of Hope is providing free clothing, toys, books and more to West Michigan foster families in need.

“We are donation based,” Ashley Summerfield, a volunteer with Closet Of Hope, said. “It all comes in free and then we’re giving it away free for families.”

Offering clothing and household essentials to foster children of all ages, Summerfield hopes that Closet Of Hope provides a safe space for foster parent newcomers who may have questions or need help through their foster care journey.

“Taking that first step, it is certainly scary,” Summerfield said. “There’s so much unknown in the world of foster care. But, this place is a space where (foster families) can come and just be.”…
