AUDIO: Big changes at KPS middle, high schools today

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kids go back to school today in Kalamazoo County and there will be some big changes in Kalamazoo Public Schools this year.

Superintendent Darrin Slade says it will be just a half-day today, but he still wants students to show up ready to learn.

One of the first lessons at middle schools and high schools will come as they are stepping through the front door, and that’s how to navigate weapon detectors. The devices, which have been used previously at sporting events, have now been installed at front entrances…
