LMPD: Man arrested for driving on sidewalk, hitting someone at State Fair

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A man is in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections after police say he tried to drive up on a sidewalk at the Kentucky State Fair to avoid workers before hitting someone.

The incident occurred at the Kentucky Expo Center on Aug. 23. According to an arrest citation, Richard Schroer was driving his Chevy Impala when he drove up on the sidewalk to avoid workers in the area.

One individual grabbed on to his mirror to stop him, but he kept driving, according to court documents. He also struck another person on the sidewalk, causing injury. Police say he then drove away from the scene. When he was eventually stopped, officers found oxycodone pills in his vehicle…
