Local church hosts annual ping pong tournament supporting Anderson Elementary School

TULSA, Okla. — A local church served up a lot of fun on Sunday right after 11 o’clock service.

First Church Tulsa’s Stephenson Hall became a ping pong arena on Sunday for their annual tournament.

The tournament had a men, women, and students division, alongside the chance to learn about volunteer roles to support Anderson Elementary School students.

“It’s not limited to church members — we do a mentoring program, which is basically having lunch with an Anderson student. You can read with them, you can help them with math — it’s primarily social. You show up once a week and get to know and build a relationship with a kid,” said Tom Hillis, member of First Church Tulsa.
