I don’t know about you, but when I was 9 years old, I was shy and awkward. However, a young Sioux Falls resident is anything but shy. She’s brave, bold, and many are calling her a hero.
9-year-old Avery Antonen is being recognized by the Sioux Falls Fire Rescue with the “Citizen Hero Award” for her heroic efforts at a neighborhood pool.

Our news partners at Dakota News Now are reporting Avery Antonen was at an apartment pool over the summer when she noticed a little boy drowning. Without hesitation, Avery pulled the boy out of the water.
