ICE arrests man outside courthouse, Buncombe County Sheriff raises safety concerns

ASHEVILLE, NC. (WLOS) — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested Jediael Amaya-Sanchez, 46, on Thursday, Aug. 21, outside the Buncombe County Courthouse around 11 a.m.

Asheville Attorney James Mills was outside the courthouse and witnessed the arrest.

“I was standing over there right by the courthouse and happened to look over,” said Mills. “When suddenly a gray expedition stopped in the middle of the street. And at least two, maybe three armed officers in tactical gear got out and ran into the middle of the median.”…
