Western New York steps up to help victims of deadly bus crash

BUFFALO, N.Y. — As of Monday the Red Cross still had a presence at the Marriott Hotel in Amherst where it had set up, in two adjacent conference rooms, an assistance center for those impacted by the crash of tour bus on Friday on the New York State Thruway.

Five people on the bus were killed and dozens more were injured when it careened off the Thruway while eastbound just before Exit 48a.

Beyond assisting with food and lodging the Red Cross was also providing emotional support for bus passengers and their families…
