New grant program to improve health and safety of Indiana’s rental housing

INDIANA The Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) is seeking proposals from owners of specific multi-family rental properties to fund lead hazard control and other home health improvements. The initiative is aimed at making older, low-income housing safer for residents.

IHCDA is explicitly looking for projects that were funded through its Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) or HOME programs. To be eligible, a property must have been built before 1978, be a multi-family dwelling, and have at least 50% of its households at or below 50% of the Area Median Income.

The funding will be provided through IHCDA’s existing Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration Grant and will cover a comprehensive list of services. This includes Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment, Healthy Homes Assessment, Radon Testing, Lead Hazard Control, Healthy Homes Interventions, and Clearance Inspections…
