Routine traffic stop leads to multiple drug charges for 56-year-old man

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A 56-year-old man is facing several drug and firearm charges after deputies say a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics and a weapon.

Sheriff Leon Lott said deputies arrested Darrell T. Brown on Saturday, Aug. 23, around 10 p.m. Deputies said they pulled Brown over for speeding in the area of Greystone Boulevard and I-126.

During the stop, deputies said they spotted a clear jar of narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle. A further search of Brown’s person revealed an unlabeled medicine bottle containing white powder and a rock-like substance. Investigators said the powder weighed 10 grams, while the rock-like substance weighed 6.9 grams…
