Massive Lanterns Light Up the Night at Evansville’s Zoo

Mesker Park Zoo

One of my favorite things to do is take my kids to the zoo. We are zoo members and often go for a fun way to get out of the house without breaking the bank.  And we put that zoo membership to use, and I love how easy it is to get in and out of our zoo. It’s big enough that you can take your time and truly spend hours there, but it’s small enough that you can speed run it if need be.

For the next few weeks, Mesker Park Zoo has a really cool event going on, Wild Summer Lights, and I had a chance to see it on Saturday. and want to share with you a sneak peek of the event, as well as a few tips I learned to make the event as enjoyable as possible!

Wild Summer Lights

Every Thursday through Sunday at Mesker Park Zoo, they are staying open late for a special event, Wild Summer Lights. The event will go until October 5th, so there are only a handful of weeks left to go and enjoy the event.

Guests will embark on a breathtaking journey through over a mile of stunning light displays, celebrating art, nature, and culture in a truly magical way. Taking place THURSDAY through SUNDAY evenings. This will be a LIMITED-TIME event, and advanced special event tickets will be required.

The proceeds from this event will support the Evansville Zoological Society, so it’s a great way to give back to the community and help our zoo continue to grow and thrive!

A Wild Summer Lights Tip

My husband and I took the kids on Saturday, and it was incredible! But we did learn a few things.  First, we arrived a little late.  We got there just after 8:00 and honestly, that was PERFECT.  The reason is that the event runs until 9:30, but at 8, the initial crowd that came when the event opened has started to clear out.  In fact, we learned we were the 2,000th guests to come through!  That’s a LOT of people at the zoo!  So we were able to really take our time and look at all the lights.

Photos do NOT do these lanterns justice; the craftsmanship that goes into these lanterns is truly a sight to see…
