Visitor arrested on drug trafficking charges at Elmore Correctional Facility

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Authorities have arrested a woman after she allegedly tried smuggling numerous items into Elmore Correctional Facility Sunday.

Police say Kyria Latham, 25, was detained after body scanners detected multiple concealed objects on her as she was trying to enter the facility during visitation hours.

After patting Latham down, security recovered two packages including:

  • 46 grams of Fentanyl
  • 95 pills of Oxycontin and Hydrocodone
  • 6 grams of sprayed paper
  • 55 grams of synthetic cannabinoids
  • 4 Apple iPhones

Latham was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband 1st and 2nd degree and Trafficking Fentanyl. She was placed in the Elmore County Jail.
