Missing Rutherford County man dies after crashing into sign, tree

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A week after a Rutherford County man went missing, Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed he died following a crash.

News 2 reported on Saturday, Aug. 23 that the family of 68-year-old Danny Brown, the owner of Ace Towing, called in a nonprofit to help find him after they began to worry.

On Sunday, Aug. 17, Brown’s family said his tow truck’s GPS was intentionally turned off near Briley Parkway and he never returned home.

As a result, the Rutherford County man’s family contacted United Search Corps, which operated in Nashville for several days, using sonar equipment to search the Cumberland River and other areas where tips came in.
