New bike lanes connect Germantown to East Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Biking in North Nashville just became a little safer.

The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure recently finished a project to protect cyclists and connect the neighborhood to East Nashville.

Getting from place to place by bicycle is becoming increasingly popular in the Metro area. NDOT told News 2 as more people are riding their bikes, they want to make sure they’re creating a bike-friendly environment on the roads.

The project added a new, separated 5-foot-wide bike lane along Jefferson Road. The lane has a 2-foot buffer that’s reinforced by posts starting at 3rd Avenue North, crossing the bridge and continuing along Spring Street to North 1st Street in East Nashville…
