Man facing weapons charges for alleged straw purchase

A Maryland man is facing weapons charges after allegedly falsifying documents to purchase a gun for a Newark man not legally able to buy it himself.

The investigation began in early August after the New Castle County Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives learned of suspected straw purchases of firearms. A straw purchase occurs when someone buys a firearm on behalf of another person who is unable or legally prohibited from purchasing it themselves.

According to court documents, Noah Williams, 21, of Elkton, Md., purchased several guns, some of which are believed to be linked to criminal incidents in New Castle County…
