I-TEAM: Thousands paid to out-of-state resident to attend meetings in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The WAFB I-TEAM uncovered that taxpayers in seven parishes around the Baton Rouge area have been spending thousands of dollars each year to fly a commissioner into town to attend meetings.

The Capital Area Groundwater Commission (CAGWC) meets six times every year. The WAFB I-TEAM found more than $14,000 in expenditures and reimbursements paid for Commissioner Jonathan Leo to attend board meetings at the CAGWC in Baton Rouge since 2023.
