Demonstrators outside governor’s mansion demand action on prison reform

“Healing over harm, people over prisons,” James Morgan said Saturday, leading nearly fifty demonstrators in a chant outside the governor’s mansion. Morgan is the community organizer for Madison Organizing in Strength, Equity & Solidarity (or MOSES), a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that advocates for systemic change to criminal justice in Wisconsin.

Joining WORT, Morgan summarized their message to Governor Tony Evers.

“We’re demanding that he utilize his power and authority to fulfill his promises made when he was first elected to assist us in decreasing the number of people in our prison system throughout the state of Wisconsin and to reinvest those financial resources into community, so that we all can experience what it means to be in safe communities,” Morgan says…
