Residents face months-long wait for relocation help following closure of Willow Bend Apartments

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — Several residents have been left in distress over housing following an appeal hearing that was held at Jacksonville’s City Hall in mid-July, where they finalized the closure of the Willow Bend Apartments.

The closure was made official on July 24, 2025, after the Jacksonville Criminal Nuisance Abatement board had previously declared them a public nuisance for having several code violations.

Since then, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s Kansas City Regional Office originally committed to relocating Willow Bend residents and providing free moving assistance to the remaining people occupying 29 of the complex’s units…
