Japanese Manufacturer Expands Into Pierce County

A Japan-based research, development, and manufacturing company that does business globally in a range of industries, is expanding into Pierce County with plans for a manufacturing facility in Frederickson, the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County announced today.

Kowa Co. Ltd. is leasing more than 300,000 square feet at the Fred310 industrial park and has already begun facility improvements for its first manufacturing operation of this kind in the region, EDB said in a news release. Production is expected to begin in 2026. Hiring will start later this year, with Kowa planning to fill roles in operations, logistics, administration, and more.
