Navient Laying Off 125 Employees in Indiana Office

Navient Solutions has announced plans to lay off up to 128 employees tied to its Fishers, Ind. office, according to a WARN notice filed on August 4,. While the layoffs are permanent and span from October through next June, they do not involve closing the facility. The affected workers are primarily remote, but report through Indiana-based management, with roughly two-thirds residing in the state and the rest scattered elsewhere.

The phased separations begin in October, followed by rounds in January, March, May, and June 2026. Navient attributes the cuts to its strategic transformation initiative launched in January 2024, which aims to streamline operations amid evolving market pressures. A company spokesperson emphasized support for impacted employees, including severance packages and transition resources. No union representation or bumping rights apply, per the notice.
