The Christian Fiscal Court approved measures to make way for opioid settlement funds, and heard updates related to the animal shelter and animal welfare in the county.
The Christian County Regional Animal Shelter remains full with animals in need of homes, and during her monthly report during Tuesday’s meeting, Director Melissa Goff says they continue to see a high volume of animals coming into the shelter. She says there were 516 animals that came into the shelter in the month of July, and 283 cats and dogs were adopted.
During public comments, CJ Hale—the founder and director of animal rescue Haven 12:10—once again put out a plea for the county to consider establishing animal control in the county. Hopkinsville itself has animal control services, but those stop in the city limits, leaving the Christian County Sheriff’s Department and concerned citizens to pick up any stray or at-large pets…
