COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – Last week Paws Humane Society of Columbus declared a State of Emergency due to the number of animals in their care. They’re running out space to house all the pets they’ve taken in, and one week later they’re still in same situation.
Executive Director Courtney Pierce tells WRBL News 3 they had 547 animals in their care when they declared the State of Emergency. This week they still have more than 500 animals. Due to the lack of space, dogs are being housed in a variety of areas now. They’re placed in cat rooms, and at times multiple dogs are housed in the same room. Some adult dogs are in kennels that are meant for puppies. Even crates are used to temporarily house pets.
If you’re adopting a pet this month you can take advantage of the “Name Your Price” special at Paws Humane Society. During this special you can pay a minimum of $1 for the adoption fees. Paws Humane Society has run multiple specials in consecutive months to help break down barriers for families that want to add a pet to their home…
