KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — On Sunday, Knox County Rescue honored rescue diver Corey Berggren on the 30th anniversary of his death in the line of duty.
On August 24, 1995, Berggren died at 40 during a recovery operation at Augusta Quarry while serving with Knox County Rescue. To honor him, members floated a memorial wreath at the quarry.

The quarry reopened in July after a renovation project intended to increase safety and add amenities. It had closed in March 2024. In June, crews investigated a possible drowning.
