LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will set up a series of sobriety checkpoints across the state throughout September in an effort to reduce impaired driving and prevent alcohol-related crashes.
Troopers will be stationed at key locations in both urban and rural counties, including Shelby, Giles, Lawrence, and Maury, among others. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, and never get behind the wheel while under the influence.
Some of the scheduled checkpoints include:
- Sept. 1: Lawrence County, U.S. Hwy 43 North @ 23.4 mm; Lincoln County, SR 50 at the 15.8 mm
- Sept. 5: Marshall County, SR 50 at the 0 mm
- Sept. 12: Lawrence County, U.S. Hwy 43S @ 2.9 mm; Bedford County, Huffman Road @ Fish Hatchery; Benton County, US 641 @ Birdsong Creek Bottom
- Sept. 19: Bedford County, SR 82 @ 6.5 mm; Moore County, SR 55 .2 miles east of the 10 mm; Giles County, SR 11 @ 13.1 mm; Wayne County, SR 13 North @ U.S. 64 Underpass
