Guns, drugs found after 3 flee traffic stop on I-24 in Nashville: MNPD

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three people were taken into Metro Police custody Monday evening after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop in rush hour traffic on Interstate 24.

According to court documents, around 5 p.m., TITANS detectives attempted to stop a black Nissan Altima for having excessive window tint and driving nearly 20 mph faster than the speed limit on I-24 West near Old Hickory Boulevard.

Officials said the Nissan did not attempt to stop, and began weaving through slow moving traffic. When traffic slowed to a stop, the Nissan’s passengers — Zarek Jones, 23, and Michael Graham, 22 — allegedly got out and ran into the woods, despite detectives’ commands to stop. The driver, Kyndell Owens, 23, remained in the driver’s seat and was placed under arrest.

After a short chase, Jones and Graham were caught and arrested. In a backpack reportedly carried by Jones, detectives found a loaded Glock 19 with an extended magazine, a loaded Glock 21, 15 grams of cocaine and 318 grams of marijuana.
