Norfolk SPCA takes in dozens of animals from shuttered North Carolina shelter

NORFOLK, Va. — Dozens of animals from the recently shut-down Northeastern North Carolina SPCA are now in Hampton Roads and in need of permanent homes.

The Elizabeth City shelter was ordered to close following an investigation that revealed unsanitary living conditions and inadequate veterinary care. Officials gave the shelter 30 days to relocate all of its animals.
