In Arkansas, the fight for women’s suffrage gained momentum in the early 20th century. While the state didn’t ratify the 19th Amendment until July 1919, Arkansas women made significant strides beforehand.
In 1917, the state passed a law allowing women to vote in primary elections – an important step in expanding voting rights. Activists like Bernie Babcock and Florence Cotnam led the charge, organizing rallies and advocating for full suffrage.
