Canyon County approves $7.5M for women’s jail after decades of delays

CANYON COUNTY, Idaho — Canyon County commissioners recently voted to allocate $7.5 million from the county’s reserve funds to build a women’s jail facility, moving forward with a project that has been stalled for nearly two decades.

“We promised taxpayers last year that we would ask people to do more with the same, and that’s exactly what we’ve done,” Commissioner Leslie Van Beek said.
