TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Manory’s in Troy has received a $50,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. Best known for being one of the oldest restaurants in the city, the diner was one of 50 businesses across the country to receive the funding.

The grant comes under American Express’s Backing Small Business program. The funds given to each restaurant will reportedly go towards building upgrades and repairs.
“These restaurants demonstrate the power that places hold,” said National Trust for Historic Preservation President and CEO Carol Quillen. “For generations, neighbors have gathered here, shared stories, made new connections and enjoyed regional cuisine that often reflects our nation’s global roots.”

Manory’s, established in 1913, said it plans to use the funding for new awnings and light fixtures, as well as repairing necessary windows. An outdoor seating area may also be a possibility.
