BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Eight people were arrested as a result of an encampment cleanup conducted last week in a lot near a park and an elementary school in east Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The BPD Impact Team worked with the city of Bakersfield’s Rapid Response Team, Code Enforcement and park rangers to conduct a cleanup operation at 801 E. 11th Street, according to officials.
During the cleanup of trash in the lot across from Martin Luther King Jr. Park and Bessie E. Owens Elementary School, eight people were arrested on suspicion of multiple charges including squatting, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug-related equipment, police said.
