Southwest Airlines adds another flight destination from McGhee Tyson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Travelers in East Tennessee will soon have another flight location to choose from for part of the year beginning in spring 2026.

McGhee Tyson Airport announced on Tuesday that Southwest Airlines would be adding another destination to its lineup. Beginning in April, Southwest will be offering seasonal service from Knoxville to Denver International Airport on Saturdays and Sundays.

Earlier this month, McGhee Tyson announced that it would be adding five daily round-trip flights beginning in March 2026 through Southwest Airlines. According to McGhee Tyson’s website, those destinations include Nashville, Dallas, Baltimore and Orlando.

In 2024, McGhee Tyson Airport had approximately 3.3 million passengers, which is more than an 18.6% increase in passengers from 2023. To accommodate that growth, the airport has been working on a series of upgrades, including expanding its current parking garage to add roughly 3,500 parking spots in 2026 and adding six new gates to the concourse, which has a target completion date of 2028…
