MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A police officer whose son was involved in a vehicle accident removed a jacket containing bottles and then lied about his actions, an Internal Affairs officer testified Tuesday.
The city called the investigator, Sgt. John Molyneux, and several other witnesses at a Mobile County Personnel Board hearing called after Sgt. Gary Rogers contested his termination in June.
The Personnel Board has 14 days to rule on Molyneux’s challenge. Both sides will have an opportunity to appeal to Mobile County Circuit Court.
Rogers, a decorated veteran of the Mobile Police Department, was on the scene shortly after the accident on Lott Road in Wilmer in December. His son, Dawson Rogers, faces a reckless murder charge.
