Driver believed to be drunk on Michelob Ultras pulls out in front of deputy

An Ocala man was arrested for DUI after pulling out in front of a deputy and admitting to having several Michelob Ultras.

A deputy stopped 60-year-old Abraham Colon Perez in a blue Dodge pickup truck around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle had pulled out in front of him on County Road 466 in Oxford, causing him to slam on the brakes to avoid crashing.

The vehicle had then sped away from the deputy at a speed of 77mph in a 55-mph zone. While behind the vehicle, he noticed an American flag hanging from the bed of the truck that looked like it was going to fall into the roadway. The vehicle also crossed the fog line while braking before getting back into the proper lane, the report said.

As the deputy issued Colon Perez a written warning for the right-of-way violation, backup arrived. They found Colon Perez at the back of his vehicle, appearing to be uneasy on his feet with slurred speech. A strong odor of alcohol came from his breath, and his eyes were glossy as he spoke, the report said…
