El Paso residents face rising tax burdens amid stagnant wages

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — As property values continue to climb in El Paso, many residents are feeling the financial strain of rising tax bills.

Despite the city maintaining its tax rate at $0.76 per $100 of valuation, other entities like the county and University Medical Center are increasing their rates, while the El Paso Community College proposes a slight decrease.

German Cisneros, a local taxpayer, expressed his frustration, saying, “So I’m having to pay out of my pocket, out of my retirement, to stay open and to be able to pay the bills.”…
