GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – On Tuesday, a new resource was introduced to help reduce food insecurity for families in need as Encompass Early Education and Care partnered with Leadership Green Bay to launch ‘The Family Fridge.’
It’s a new initiative aimed at supporting food security for the entire Encompass community.

“We have a lot of families and kids that come in with hungry bellies. A lot of times they have only eaten from the night before with us,” Encompass’s Executive Director Missy Schmeling said. “Our hope is that they will have extra food to take with them on their way home, before they have dinner at night.”
Schmeling added that the fridge offers a welcoming, judgment-free resource. The fridge is stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables and other quick snacks.
