ST. LOUIS — Federal prosecutors have subpoenaed records about a June altercation at Saint Louis University Hospital in which a sheriff’s deputy working secondary security allegedly assaulted a patient in a wheelchair.
The incident is now under review by a federal grand jury, according to subpoenas obtained exclusively by 5 On Your Side through open records requests filed under the Missouri Sunshine Law.
The hospital confrontation is part of a new series of subpoenas that broaden the scope of the federal probe into Sheriff Alfred Montgomery’s office. Beyond an earlier subpoena already reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, at least three additional subpoenas have since been issued.
