Speak Up: Neighbors against plan to partially fill in golf course in north Scottsdale with homes

Homeowners living near Starfire Golf Club’s ninth hole in Scottsdale worry that Swing First Golf’s plan to build seven homes on 5.2 acres nearby could destroy their neighborhood’s idyllic, rural feel and increase traffic. Dave Ashton, co-owner of Swing First, tells J. Graber that he and his partner have a comprehensive plan for improving the golf course that will take several years to complete. Among the hurdles are getting the land rezoned from a developed open space designation to residential, which would require a major amendment to Scottsdale’s General Plan.
