Crews respond to fire in South Norfolk area of Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Fire crews responded to the South Norfolk area of Chesapeake after a large plume of smoke was visible in the air on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 500 block of B Street, not far from 18th Street in the South Norfolk area. A battalion chief with the Chesapeake Fire Department stated that the investigation is centered on propane tanks in the backyard and that the fire may have originated from a grilling accident, which then spread to a nearby shed.
