Federal agents seize 6 pounds of meth hidden under car hood in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — A months-long investigation led to a major methamphetamine bust in Providence, where federal agents seized nearly six pounds of the drug hidden under the hood of a vehicle, according to court documents obtained by NBC 10 News.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration arrested brothers Americo Ureña-Jimenez and Fausto Ureña-Jimenez on Monday night after investigators said they drove from New York to Providence to deliver methamphetamine to a residence on Detroit Avenue.

According to an affidavit filed in federal court, the DEA had been investigating the men for months, using a confidential source who told agents he had previously purchased pound quantities of meth from them in Providence. The source informed agents that the men were planning to bring six pounds of crystal meth to Rhode Island on Aug. 25 in a silver Acura SUV…
