Man faces assault on officer charges, accused of spitting on National Guard in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man is facing charges of assaulting an officer after he was seen by Amtrak police spitting on two members of the National Guard, according to court records.

On Friday, Aug. 22, around 4:45 p.m., Scott Pichon was riding a Lime scooter while approaching two members of the South Carolina Army National Guard on Massachusetts Avenue.

A sergeant with Amtrak police was patrolling Union Station when he said he heard Pichon make a noise as if he was “coughing up mucus” before spitting on the two National Guard soldiers, according to court documents. The saliva hit one officer in the neck and the other in the face, police filings noted.
